Born and raised in Florida, Patrick Murphy is a CPA and businessman who grew frustrated with the dysfunction in Washington and decided to take action.
Patrick’s top priority is making Washington work again for Floridians — by growing the middle class, strengthening Social Security and Medicare, and meeting America’s challenges overseas. He’s proven time and again that he is a problem solver who brings both parties together to find commonsense solutions and get things done for Florida.
A native of the Florida Keys, Patrick grew up along the South Florida coast. Patrick learned the value of hard work from his father, who put him to work on construction sites, digging holes and pouring concrete.
After graduating from the University of Miami with majors in accounting and finance, Patrick went on to work as a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) for Deloitte and Touche, auditing Fortune 500 companies, before establishing his own environmental cleanup business.
In 2012, tired of the dysfunction and Tea Party extremism in Washington, he took on and defeated Tea Party firebrand Allen West in a hard-fought election to represent Florida’s 18th Congressional District in the U.S. House of Representatives. Patrick has proudly represented the 18th District since 2013.
